Making Love with the Divine Course

6/8/2024

What if the Divine is actually the resolution of trauma and the flow of a regulated nervous system?

What if making love with the Divine is living as fully human and fully divine, moving in and out of activation and deactivation, sympathetic and parasympathetic, nervous system states?

Making love with the Divine is making love with life – allowing life to move and express through us. It is embodying creative flow, following instinct and impulse, and body messages. Making love with the Divine is aliveness.

Reclaiming our sacred self, the sacredness of the mundane and ordinary, is a process through which we can access peace, contentment and meaning.

In experiencing the ecstatic and erotic we are able to create with joy and are energised. Love flows. Love is made. Love is shared.

Making Love with the Divine: Sacred, Ecstatic and Erotic Experiences is an online evergreen 'Experience to Share' course based on and an accompaniment to the workbook, published by Girl God Books.

This year-long course includes 2 videos and 12 audios which outline and discuss the content of each module, and demonstrate and facilitate activities and exercises from the book.

Having your own copy of the workbook is mandatory and essential before you begin. You may order a copy below if you don't have one already.

Somatic Shamanism Energy Medicine Deeper Immersion Practitioner Training

After completion is a crucial time. The postpartum, fourth trimester of any rebirth journey : INTEGRATION.

It is during this time that mind, body, heart recalibrate & most importantly the nervous system adjusts to the new normal.

Even if the metamorphosis was nervous system & trauma informed, titrated & contained, we need to give ourselves time to recover & accept what now is.

If we want change to 'stick' for good this time - to embody transformation - we must give ourselves space to become acquainted with who we have become, to explore, structure & nurture the new.

Without this we bounce back to what was.

The year Somatic Shamanism Energy Medicine Deeper Immersion Practitioner Training is the education & evolution.

The time after the initiation & feedback from case studies is the embodiment : when students & their inner teacher choose to self-lead, to be & do differently.

And not everyone is ready to make that choice. Some continue to chase/escape. Or don't want to be self- responsible. Or believe an external teacher is needed.

(No shame : I speak from experience)

Congratulations again to my students this year. A huge achievement! And a huge thank you once again to @sls_daretodance for supporting the facilitation & @acornretreat for venue & support.

After facilitating & teaching this work for seven years, I'm taking a break to honour my own transformation & growth in so many areas of my professional life.

I need a year to fully explore opportunities presenting themselves so I can assess where to place my energy for maximum positive evolutionary impact for past, present & future generations.

To discern & create what comes next.

If you are interested in joining my next trainings (anticipated to start in 2025) join the mailing list here 👉 https://www.kaylouisealdred.com/contact.html

And in the meantime my @girlgodbooks books & online courses are all user-friendly, accessible, non-dogmatic ways of exploring your embodiment, spirituality & meaning making.

Neurodivergent Wellbeing Approach Training: better than a New Year’s resolution!

1/9/2024

Kay Louise Aldred introduces the benefits of Neurodiverse Connection’s Neurodivergent Wellbeing Approach Training. This holistic, well-being focused training programme is open to neurodivergent individuals, their families and friends, as well as professionals including hospital teams, community teams, educators, third sector groups. NdWA training comprises eight online sessions, running from 30 January—26 March 2024. New year’s resolutions – especially ones focused on giving things up or avoiding things – aren’t universally successful.

For neurodivergent individuals with a profile of demand avoidance this may be, especially the case. And, for all neurotypes, the sudden shock to the nervous system of the removal of resources used to regulate and soothe our nervous system – even those deemed ‘unhealthy’ - can be highly dysregulating and can cause shock.

Resolutions can be too much, too soon, too quickly – something our nervous system can process as traumatic.

So, what’s the alternative? Setting intentions, visioning, and embarking on a ‘journey’ with a ‘destination’ can be more gentle method and easier for the nervous system to process, as can adopting an overall new and holistic ‘approach’ to change. Research has shown that ‘approach-oriented goals were significantly more successful than those with avoidance-oriented goals (58.9% vs. 47.1%)’ 1.

Most new year’s resolutions focus around improving aspects of wellbeing. Neurodiverse Connection’s Neurodivergent Wellbeing Approach Training is one such holistic approach which supports transition and growth, through self-understanding and acceptance and education and practical skills.  It is an ‘experience to share’ training for parents and professionals who work with neurodivergent people.  We believe a holistic and wellbeing focused approach is often a more effective and sustainable way of eliciting change and offering support.

Why this approach works better than a resolution at improving wellbeing:

01 Education Focus Education provides individuals with a deep understanding of the factors influencing their wellbeing. When people are informed about the importance of an integrated approach to health, they are more likely to make lasting lifestyle changes rather than pursuing short-term resolutions.

02 Empowerment Through Self-Understanding and Acceptance Education for self-understanding empowers individuals to make informed choices about their health. Understanding and accepting the interconnectedness of physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing allows people to make choices that align with their overall wellness needs, contributing to a more holistic and sustainable approach.

03 Addressing the Nervous System Holistic education focuses on identifying and addressing the root of wellbeing – nervous system regulation. This approach leads to more comprehensive and effective solutions, ensuring that individuals are not just addressing surface-level concerns but working towards overall nervous system regulation – essential for baseline health and wellbeing.

04 Focus on Regulation The education in wellbeing provided includes tools and strategies for regulating the nervous system. This is crucial in navigating life's inevitable ongoing challenges and setbacks. Instead of relying on the short-lived motivation that often accompanies New Year resolutions, individuals equipped with self-soothing strategies and resources to support the stress which accompanies ongoing sensory and social processing differences too.

05 Integration of Mind-Body-Spirit ConnectionThis integrated approach emphasises the mind-body-spirit connection, recognising that nervous system, mental and emotional health significantly impact physical and mental wellbeing and vice versa. It promotes the importance of creativity. This integrated approach promotes a more balanced lifestyle and view of wellbeing, contributing to overall better health.

06 Cultivating Sustainable ‘Habits’ and ResourcesSustainable habits and resources are more likely to be established through education and an integrated approach. New Year’s resolutions often focus on singular goals, whereas holistic education encourages the development of a range of habits and resources to meet needs that collectively contribute to wellbeing, making them more sustainable overall.

07 Personalised Wellbeing StrategiesEducation based on self-understanding and acceptance allows individuals to understand their unique needs and preferences. This personalised self-understanding enables the development of tailored and bespoke wellbeing strategies that align with an individual's lifestyle, making it more likely that they will adhere to and benefit from these strategies over time.

08 Community Support, Connection and BelongingHolistic education in a group setting often fosters a sense of community, connection and belonging. This support network can be instrumental in helping individuals stay accountable and committed to their wellbeing goals. New Year resolutions, on the other hand, are often pursued individually and may lack the support system necessary for success.

Centring practitioner wellbeing: the difference it makes to supporting service user wellbeing and provision

11/19/2023

Kay Louise Aldred introduces our Neurodivergent Wellbeing Approach Training. This holistic, well-being focused training programme is open to neurodivergent individuals, their families and friends, as well as professionals including hospital teams, community teams, educators, third sector groups. NdWA training comprises eight online sessions, running from 30 January—26 March 2024. More information here.

Centring practitioner wellbeing is a crucial, yet often forgotten or dismissed aspect of creating a sustainable and effective service. When health care, social care or educational professionals are supported and prioritised in terms of their own physical, mental, and emotional health, it can have a profound impact on service user, client or student wellbeing and overall service provision.

Here at Neurodiverse Connection, we take the importance of practitioner wellbeing and regulation very seriously and our bespoke Neurodivergent Wellbeing Training is based on the concept of ‘experience to share’.  Uniquely, it is a wellbeing programme for attendees themselves primarily, that they can then role model and share with people they work with.

Recent feedback from a multi-disciplinary NHS Trust team, made up of administrators, managers, nurse practitioners and psychologists who collectively underwent the training emphasised that it is this lens and focus which makes the programme distinctive in its application and success. Their key takeaways from the training included:

Focus on my own regulation to be co-regulating with othersSelf-compassion is a take home messageConsider tolerance and capacity of self and othersFocus on self-care needs to be prioritisedBe more mindful of regulation of staff when supporting inpatient servicesSelf-reflection of on own wellbeing and making this a prioritySo why does centring practitioner wellbeing make a difference in supporting service users and enhancing service provision?

More effective in meeting needs in an individualised wayWhen practitioners are physically and mentally well, they are better able to coregulate and focus on the individual needs of each patient, make tailored clinical decisions, and deliver more compassionate and empathetic care.

Teamwork and CollaborationPractitioners who feel supported and valued are more likely to coregulate and work as a team with their colleagues. This improved communication fosters collaboration, creating a positive and supportive work environment and community. A collaborative healthcare team is better equipped to address complex patient cases and provide comprehensive and complete care.

Reduced Burnout and Staff TurnoverPrioritising practitioner wellbeing safeguards against burnout, a significant issue in the statutory services. Reduced burnout leads to lower turnover rates, ensuring continuity of care for patients. This stability is essential for building strong patient-practitioner relationships and maintaining consistent and effective service provision.

Job Satisfaction and Staff RetentionPractitioners who are satisfied with their jobs are more likely to be engaged in their work. Higher job satisfaction translates to increased motivation, productivity, and a cheerful outlook towards patient care. Patients benefit from interactions with professionals who are energised, holistically well and happy in their work.

Preventive CareWell-supported practitioners are more likely to engage in ongoing professional development, staying updated on the latest medical research and advancements. This translates to an initiative-taking approach to service user care, with a focus on specialist, evidence based, preventive measures alongside early intervention, leading to better outcomes.

A Service-Wide ‘Well’ Culture Systems that prioritise practitioner wellbeing fosters an organisational culture of wellbeing. This culture emphasises a commitment to the wellbeing of everyone. Such an environment promotes a person-centred approach to work and care, ensuring that services and workplace norms are tailored to meet the diverse needs the whole organisation. This fosters value and belonging and therefore commitment to providing and engaging with the service.

A Trauma-Informed Approach Service providers are often face traumatic, challenging and emotionally demanding situations. Well-supported and regulated practitioners are better equipped to digest stress responses and process vicarious trauma and are less likely to experience compassion fatigue. This is essential for maintaining consistent, high-quality care and service even in challenging circumstances.

In summary, centring practitioner wellbeing has a ripple effect on patient wellbeing and service provision. A care and education system that values and supports its practitioners and teachers creates a positive feedback loop, where well professionals contribute to improved service user outcomes and the overall effectiveness of services.

Prioritising practitioner wellbeing is not only an ethical imperative but also a strategic investment in the long-term success and sustainability of health, social and educational systems.
